Abusive Workplace Act Passes Ilinois Senate
by Judith on Mar.29, 2010, under Uncategorized
On March 18, 2010, the Abusive Workplace Act passed the Illinois Senate by a vote of 35- 17. The bill now moves on the the House Committee for their vote.
This is a first for the U.S. This opens up the doors even wider for other states to get legislation passed in their own states against bullying, mobbing and other forms of harassament in the workplace. At present there are no laws on the books against this type of destructive behavior in the U.S.
Bullying behavior has cost people their jobs, income, marriages, health and in some cases their lives. There should be definitive laws that every company, large and small would be accountable to. This is not limited to the private sector, but in our government offices also.
If you have been the victim of being bullied and would like to share your story or contact me, please go to www.workplaceintimidation.com and click on “your stories”. By putting in your story, it not only gives me a chance to respond to you, but your story could help others know they are not alone in this battle.
As the momentum picks up for other states to move forward in this quest, I will keep you informed as to what is taking place.
